Well come to find out my daughter didn’t think it was as cool as I had hoped… it turned learning to read for her into something not fun anymore. This was before we started using HOOKED ON PHONICS.
When we started getting to the sight words in Hooked on Phonics we made flash cards again. Only this time she wrote the word in the middle and I wrote the word in uppercase and lowercase letters in he corners of the index cards. (Pic for proof!)
We would sound out each letter as she wrote it and then say the word. After all the flash cards were written for that lesson in Hooked on Phonics we would review the cards one more time.
The next day we review the cards and tape them to our Word Wall!! (Pic for proof!)
This is pretty much how we start with new sight words. I’m sure most of you do the same.
